Brock was born in St. Paul and grew up in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. He double-majored in Chemistry and Music with a concentration in neuroscience at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. After receiving his BA in 2018 Brock worked as a research assistant in the Maier Lab at Vanderbilt University before becoming a graduate student in the Department of Psychology in 2020. Co-advised by Alexander Maier PhD, and Geoffrey Woodman PhD, Brock defended his dissertation in March of 2025. His PhD work focused on laminar neurophysiology of binocular vision in V1. As of the summer of 2025, Brock is excited to join the Olman Lab for Imaging Science as a post-doctoral associate on the Flexible Ferrets grant, collaborating with Gordon Smith PhD and Audrey Sederberg PhD on computational modeling and 2-photon imaging!
